About The Nobu Hotel and Restaurant

The Nobu Hotel and Restaurant was designed by David Rockwell, the award winning New York based designer. Hand selected by Chef Nobu and Robert DeNiro, it was apt that he was the designer for the world's first Nobu Hotel as he similarly designed the first Nobu Restaurant.

Nobu's design DNA is reflected in the overall experience which is the fusion of Japanese and Asian traditions with Western accompaniments. The designs embrace comfortable simplicity with natural materials and textures counter-balanced with outsized elements to reveal a touch of Vegas flair.

Chef Nobu's and Robert DeNiro's vision of the rooms and suites are reflected in their work with David Rockwell, assisting with the handpicking of design elements. Some of the style designs for the guest rooms include custom art by up-and-coming Japanese artists that feature a mix of traditional prints and expressionist designs. The main focal point of the room is a feature wall that displays a custom 'shodo' style calligraphy.

The bathrooms have teak fittings, stone tile and sleek modern fixtures. The over-sized walk-in shower is made with traditional black Umi tiles and offers multiple showerheads and a teak bathing stool, a fixture of traditional Japanese bathhouses.

The Partners

Chef Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa

Founding chef of Nobu Restaurants, he currently oversees the portfolio of 25 Nobu Restaurants in 5 continents of the world. Born in Japan, Chef Nobu cultivated his unique style of fusion artistry with influences from his travels to Peru, Argentina, Alaska and California. In 1987, Chef Nobu opened his first U.S. restaurant, Matsuhisa, in Beverly Hills, which quickly became one of the most popular restaurants due to a dedication to the highest quality and finest ingredients from around the world.

Robert De Niro

Highly acclaimed actor, director, producer and two-time Academy Award-winner Robert De Niro was instrumental in bringing the artistry of Nobu first to New York and now around the world. His support of the brand draws actors, musicians and socialites to the brand.

De Niro has co-funded and provided creative direction for all of the owned Nobu restaurants, and De Niro will continue to provide creative leadership and insights in the development of Nobu Hospitality product.

Meir Teper

Meir Teper, in conjunction with De Niro, was responsible for convincing Chef Nobu to open the first restaurant and has been instrumental in the growth of Nobu on the world stage. As a principal and shareholder in Nobu Hospitality, Teper brings unique vision and foresight of the Nobu brand into the new namesake hotels and living experiences.

Never one to rest, Teper also has played an integral role in the development and funding of several restaurants with De Niro, including Tribeca Grill and Ago.
